Now that you have received this URL from your instructor, you are well on your way to becoming one of us -- a Watcher -- and joining our Watcher brothers and sisters around the world and throughout the ages. This website is a training tool to help familiarize you with the Watcher Organization and the basic activities of Watchers -- observing and chronicling the lives of Immortals throughout history. It contains the Chronicle of a single Immortal, Duncan MacLeod (born 1592; first death 1622): his life, his adventures, his adversaries, his loves, his friends, and the Watchers who faithfully maintained his Chronicle.

An Immortal like MacLeod lives his life in the midst of our mortal world, and by choice or by necessity, the lives of mortals become intertwined with his own. It is important that we as Watchers monitor these relationships, for we can learn much about the Immortal through his interaction with mortals. Secondly, we can observe and Chronicle the truth about the Immortal impact on our mortal history, a truth often missing from the pages of the world's great histories. Finally, it allows us to watch the mortals themselves, who may learn of Immortality, whether deliberately or accidentally, and so pose a threat to the secrecy of both the Immortals and our own organization.
